About Riverdale, GA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

As with many towns in this area, Riverdale, Georgia started humbly. Today, it is a beautiful suburb with sunny weather in the summer and snowy treetops in the winter.  But, many years ago, that was not the case.  It was not so long ago that this little patch of land was a rural settlement where people struggled and toiled to create happy and healthy lives for their families.

Residents made their livings selling wood at the local train stop.  Colonists moved to this area long before the Civil War made its way to the Southern state, in the 1860's.  By 1887, a railroad had been constructed from Atlanta to Fort Valley and there was a local stop in a town by the name of Selina.  The railroad was in need of wood, and the farmers in the area needed money.  That is how that particular relationship began.  But, the trains and railroad did not just TAKE from the area, they also brought fertilizer with them when they stopped.  Because of this, fertilizer became the first real business venture in the locale. The moderate temperatures and nutritive soil made this part of the state perfect for farming and agriculture. Fertilizer was towed in farm carts from the neighboring town of Jonesboro. Later, when prominent locals donated money to the railroad, what would become the town of Riverdale became a main stop.

The city was later named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Rivers, the wealthy donors. Today, the City of Riverdale is located Clayton County.  It is a suburb with beautiful homes and quiet streets.  There is much diversity in the population and the area’s residents are friendly and open.  It is a bit different from Atlanta, which is approximately 10 miles north. But, citizens have proximity to so many amenities that the big city has to offer.  For example, it is only 5 miles from the international airport serving Atlanta.  The weather is always nice, the people are as welcoming as can be and the food (the peaches, especially) cannot be beaten.  This part of Georgia is a place that is like none other.
